Paddle boarding

So we had a lazy bank holiday monday paddle- Jenni and both the Karls managed to drag themselves out of bed too- the weather was on our side too- Sunny!
It was windy though and for once the wind shadow was the wrong side of the lake from the jetty so getting the boards into the water was a nightmare- 6ft board + strong wind = accidental adventure.

As I went to get into the water the wind caught the board and dragged me in up to my waist.
Not my favourite start to a session!
It wasn't as cold as I had expected but I did have very cold feet by the end of the hour.

Before we went out, Emma was telling us the advantages of wearing a wet suit if you come off and get caught by the fins from another board (not SUP- they have teeny flexible fat fins and do like 3mph unless you're some kind of pro, but windsurfers or surf boards) because it acts as a tourniquet.
Her rule of thumb is that if something has cut your suit you probably need stitches so don't even try and look- just get out and get someone to do first aid.
This was followed by several horrible anecdotal stories.
We almost lost enthusiasm for going out whilst there were windsurfers on the water!
