Jay's rainy weekend in Bedfordshire

Jay came down to stay with us Friday- Sunday. He came down on his motorbike, in what seemed like record time.
We didn't ask too many questions!

On friday night, We went out into town for some drinks and to show him the sights. We started off at The Embankment and sat outside to take in the views.
I think the waterfront is really pretty in the dark when all the bridges are lit up and the strings of lights are on- It reminds me of seaside holidays!
From there- as it did get a bit nippy- we retreated to the upstairs of The Standard- where they have a marquee over the roof terrace so we could still sort of sit outside and had a proper catch up with all of Jay's news from Wales for us!
The Standard started to get busy with people who were out fro the night, feeling under dressed we headed for Yates's where I got a jelly baby cocktail.
It came with jelly babies on the top- Jay was cheeky and asked the barman if he could have jelly babies on his pint- and the barman did it!
Well played Yates barman.
We carried on chatting and mooching until about 10:00- We had said that we would meet Traff in town, but we were both so tired from working all day that we decided to call it a night and pick up some beers from the shop on the way home.
We spent a few hours playing youtube jukebox and catching up.
I went to bed about midnight as I was totally done in- I have no idea what time the boys went to bed, but they followed their late night with an early start.

Jay rustling about woke me up about 7, so we had an early cuppa and looked for things to do.
The weather was not on our side!
We had planned to take Jay to Santa pod to race his bike and My Aygo on the drag strip, then to go to the birds of prey centre so that we could hold the owls (Again, I know, but it doesn't get old!).
Then it started raining.
Vetoing both brilliant plans- theres no drag racing or bird flying displays in the rain!
So we went for tea and cake in Fancy instead.

Jay has decided that his new strategy to find a ladyfriend should be to eat more cake- As women like cake so they'd immediately have some common ground.
After cake, we walked round the park and up mallard hill for the view- and to try and digest some of our eatings- Jay had cake-seconds and was feeling a bit rough!- We walked round the pond and the ducks were all following us- I guess now it's getting cold people aren't going down there to feed them as often.
The came right up to us!
We headed back and watched a film whilst our shoes and coats dried off. In the evening the sun come out but it was much colder- We walked down to the marina and had a look around- Just in time for sunset!
Then we headed up to the white horse for dinner and a few pints.
Again, we beat Traff home so we had beers and watched some episodes of Archer.

This morning, Jay and Traff went out on the bike- Which apparently was freezing but very enjoyable- Before he headed off home.
We thought about going to see the speedway today- but it started too late- Never mind, Next time We shall Santa pod and Speedway!
