Nail and board string wound images:
1) draw your image in chalk
2)hammer in nails to make the outline (It works better if you can make the outline "double" like ray's clef hearts than single lines like my space picture but beads on the end of the nails look really cool and stop the wool escaping in the next stage)
3) Wind thread to produce the image, ray and I filled in our outlines but Jen did hers in relief, which looked awesome.
Ice dyeing:
Wash the clothes to be dyed without salt (no mordent) once they're damp scrunch them up and put them into a tray, stood on a grating (Like a wire cooling rack or a clean bbq grill- this is so that the dye and water escape and are collected later).
Next cover all the items to be dyed with ice.
Sprinkle the dye over the ice and wait.
As the ice melts the water will carry the dye onto the clothes creating weird patterns.
:D
I will do this again.
Beadwork broaches:
Papier mache with wire structure:
Ray and I both made a spiral of wire and covered it in papier mache to make a bowl, Jen pushed the boat out and made a wire frame for a cat!
I was very impressed.
