Not sure what to wear to prom!

Today I have to go to the forest of dean with work.
Then, when we get back I will have a rather quick outfit change and off to prom.
So, this morning was spent digging out items of clothing and rejecting them.

I have my accessories sorted, now I just need to decide on a dress...

House move

Ray and I helped Tracey move into her new house yesterday. As a favour return she bought us pizza
😁
We ended up walking home as Ray had cycled over and she assured me it was only a mile from my house..
4 miles and 2 hours later we finally made it home...
It was a nice walk, just also a shame we have to get up for work today.
My feet are killing me!

Sweet peas from my parents garden

My parents came to visit on Sunday for a BBQ and a catch up. They have a really impressive garden and somehow managed to grow sweet peas by the bajillion. If you cut the flowers, they grow more and will flower all summer, so my Mum spends the whole summer visiting people with posies of flowers!
They're really scented too.
Apparently this was the first posy of the season!

You're never too old for the zip wire!

...although we did scare an elderly dog walker...

Walking along the old railway line

This walk was a bit of an accident. Ray and I are trying to make sure we get out 10,000 steps in so we've been going for a walk in the evenings- you may have noticed we favour the Rec...
So, to change things up we walked to old town gardens, then on to the old railway line just behind the gardens. from there we walked back into town.
We made an error though- as we saw Wroughton housing estate so we thought we'd walked waaayyy too far and ended up walking back on ourselves... making our journey insanely long.
Nice views though.
We will try again on our bikes.

Experimental cherry cake

I'm using the cherries Kirstie bought me for my birthday to make a cherry cake. This way, I can hopefully have cake for work, cake for home and finish the cherries off as park of an ice cream sundae tomorrow at our belated father's day BBQ.
Fingers crossed this works!

Update:
It was awesome. I used the 4,4,4:2 delia method and it came out pretty awesome.
I highly recommend with custard.

Cardiff with Cat & Trist

We were invited to stay at Trist and Cat's new place in the Valleys on Friday night.
We watched Glastonbury on the TV, ordered chinese and played cards against humanity with Baker and Helen.
It was lush!
Today we took a trip to Cardiff, had lunch at milgis and I spent a fortune in Islamic relief.

My good deed for the day

I made lunch for my colleague this evening.
In fairness I was making lunch for everyone else and sushi and melon to take to work anyway, but I boxed some up for her especially.
So, that is my good deed.

Bombay sapphire distillery tour

Today Traff, Phil, Kirstie and I went to the Bombay sapphire distillery in honour of kirstie's birthday.

The tour was really cool, especially the greenhouse!
The gin cocktails were pretty good too, but obviously we went for the educational and cultural experience...

After the tour we went to rios burger place in Newbury.
It was really good.
😁
We are converted!

Pudding with Karl

Karl and I went to dessert island for ice cream sundaes ( I was actually good and had sorbet but same idea!).
After pudding we walked also the embankment to soak up some more rays, and watch the fishies in the river.
Cute.

Giant gins!

Paddle boarding

Today was the perfect day for paddling!
I am so sunburnt!

Walking with Ray

Ray and I have been exploring the local area on foot in the evenings.
We usually start of walking to manning rec, then taking one of the exits from the park and figuring out how to get home through all the alleyways and housing estates.
We found some nifty shortcuts, a corner shop, the working mens club and a massive pile of junk that includes some car doors.
We've found plenty of blackberrying sites and seen some awesome graffiti (and some awful graffiti too..).

Today we walked through a playing field off of the park.
This is where I quite often see foxes on the way home from pt. It's always empty!

The harry potter film theme!

I will be trying this out!

Good morning humans

Kirstie's birthday Terrarium

Sushi

Cheese, pepper and carrot sushi!
The secret to better looking, better rolled sushi turns out to be noori size!
Supermarkets only sell.half cut sheets.
For whole sheets you have to go to the Asian supermarket.
So much easier!

Displacement

Dress making

I was still in my weird headspace so I went to find Traff, who was playing fifa in the loft.

He suggested I finish one of my many unfinished projects.
Or make a blanket for Marley's box.

I went with option a as there wasn't enough fleacy material for b. (Marley will only sleep on fluffy things. So particular. The only fluffy fabric I had was white so it would have looked gross very quickly.)

The machine was ready threaded with black, so really it was the dress or nothing.
I cut the pieces out last time I was doing sewing so it was straight forward enough.

The trim was a headache as it's really thick and kept catching on the needle but it looks good now it's done!

I might add something to the neckline.. so i'm not sure it's a complete work yet but it's cute and it's ready to wear!

Banana bread

Today has been a funny day. Traff and I have both been busy, so shopping just hasn't happened.
This morning we ended up having breakfast at eds easy diner (Although, I am disappointed that they no longer sell cinnamon buns.

Then I did some work for work tomorrow. And jumped on the trampoline.

We met James and Sophie for lunch at wagamams, which was ace and then they came back for coffee and to meet marley.
It has been a lovely moochy day.

I spent my evening not knowing what to do with myself (it's really windy! Too windy to cycle and walking is actually pretty unpleasant but it's so sunny I want to be outside and i'm restless. I hate days like this as I just feel like they're wasted! Some people get sad in winter, I think I spend my summer in a state of anxiety over spending enough time outside!)

This ended in my making banana bread without scales (I forgot that Traff dropped ours).

1/2 cup sugar
1/3 cup butter
1 1/2 cups plain flour
2 bananas
2 eggs
1/4 cup icing sugar (it makes the top really crispy.. try it!)

Baked in a loaf tin for an 1 hour 20 minutes.

So, now we have banana bread and I still don't know what to do with myself!
