London

Today my alarm didn't go. So I woke up an hour late.
Normally that wouldn't be a huge issue, but today I was working in London.
As you can see, I basically ran to work. I am very impressed with my pace!

I did make my train, had a very productive meeting and had a coffee in the national gallery too!

New job

Wednesday was my first day at my other new job at the museum (I know, I hold down a full time and a part time job and am still working fewer hours than before!).

They run 4 workshops:
Evacuation
Air raid
Victorian childhood
Victorian seaside trip

I observed 2 evacuation sessions on my first day, and will teach evacuation on Wednesday.

My running watch is making stuff up!

This is my favourite thing this week. I went to the gym for a run. According to my fancy gps running watch, I just ran all over the place for 30 minutes. In and out of doors, leaping through windows, around equipment, possibly terrorising other gym users and the public alike.

I ran on a treadmill.

But I like my watches version better.

Chaos wrestling, Bristol

Date night!

Bike adventures

Tracey and I have both embarked on a couch to 5k, using the bbc app (we both chose Sarah Millican as our motivational celebrity voice over too).

This is all in line with the 'walk the whole Ridgeway' plan. Apparently fitness will be key.

So, usually you'd have found us in the gym, as it's week 3/9...

However, Tracey went running in the snow and has managed (very impressively) to pull all the tendons in both her legs.
Whilst she rests them it's low impact exercise only.
Like cycling!
(And eating cake!)

So, we cycled along the canal and old railway line to old town, had tea abd caje in dotties and then cycled home again before it rained on us!

Hardly epic, but still good for stamina... both cake eating stamina and exercise stamina...

Valentine's day- blind date with a book

We don't do Valentine's day, but when I was in town today one of the charity shops on commercial road had a 'blind date with a book' promotion.
£1'25 each.
So I bought us each a date.

Happy Valentine's day to us!

Incase our 'dates' don't work out I bought Frankenstein and the bell jar.

The hydro

Tracey and I are both doing couch to 5k, to get our fitness up for our planned walk along the Ridgeway.

Tracey has guilted me into.it, so she's a week ahead. But we've been going to the gym after work and then to the turkish baths.
So far it hasn't been too awful!

Snowdrops at Lydiard park

Tracey and I had planned to go to white horse hill.
However, on Sunday Tracey had the lurgy and it seemed cruel to drag her too far in the name of beneficial exercise.

So, we walked around the park at Lydiard and had a coffee in the stables cafe.
Very chilled- both weather and pace.

It even snowed a bit!

But, the snowdrops are out so spring is trying to start. Roll on warmer weather!

Trampoline park

Today Traff and I went to the trampoline park.
We both usually go to work on a Thursday so getting a day to spend together was ace!

Originally we booked the day off too attend a wedding. Traff's wrestling friends were due to be married in Northampton.
However, they contacted us at the weekend to say the wedding was off, they'd broken up and it was all pretty awful (no names, it's kinder).
We'd both booked holiday for the wedding so we thought we might as well just have a day of stuff.

Usually we only get to go to the, trampoline park outside or school hours. So it's full of kids.
Today, it was joyously empty.

We tried freedog rather than the link and liked it better. It's about the same size but the facilities are a bit nicer. It's also a teeny bit cheaper.

After trampolines we did some chores, collected bank statements for our mortgage appt and had a spoons dinner.
We just hung out, and it was awesome. 😁

Regents/grand union canal

Sooo much walking!

The Harry Potter exhibition at The British Library.

Tats and I had an adventure day! We both wanted to see this exhibition, but only managed to get our lives in order just before it closed!

If you get the chance to go, it's worth the trip. The inspirational artefacts and people behind parts of the books are really interesting.

The manuscripts and original artwork are also on display.

So much cool stuff!

Free upgrade face!!

1st class!!

Rocks

In my community, in Swindon, a group of children have been painting and hiding stones for others to find and rehide.
I saw it on a community Facebook group, and I thought it was a cool idea but felt a bit weird looking for them.

Today when we came home from.centre parcs this guy was on our wall.

I guess I have to play now!

Proper sunday activities

It must be almost spring!
This Morning it was warm enough to read outside in only cardigan.

I'm reading my way though Louisa M Alcott's little women series out of curiosity.
I ordered good wives from Amazon and it came on Wednesday so just in time for the trip and reading jo's boys on my kindle app. Only one more title to collect!

They are childrens' books but they're quite hard going. So many references to items we don't use any more or historical context.
Interesting reading.

Bath

Today I am in Bath for work. I have a conference at the Royal Scientific and literary institute.
It's exciting!

I got here early enough to search out the location and get Breakfast at the wild cafe in Bath. It's very good.

It's also nice to walk around without fighting off the tourists.
I highly recommend visiting Bath Spa at 8'30am.

I will be copying the wild cafe mint tea idea too!
I need a good mint plant!
